Ted Neeley. He's Jesus in the movie, and he's also who I saw play Jesus on stage. I know some people who refer to him as the "screaming Jesus", but I think that his interpretation can be really effective, especially because it is rock music, after all. I really like his Gethsemane, and he moved me to tears with his performance. For more, please visit this Ted Neeley Page.
Carl Anderson. He was Judas in the movie, and on the tour as well, though I saw his understudy instead. I've also seen him perform other stuff as well, and he really does have a great voice, though, like Ted's, probably not what you would call a typical Broadway voice. Anyway, for more, please visit Performing Artist Carl Anderson's Personal Homepage.
Glenn Carter. He played Jesus in the recent Broadway revival as well as in the video version. I have to admit that I wasn't very impressed at the first live appearance I saw him do, but after hearing him on the recording, he grew on me. A lot. :-) I would have liked to have seen him on stage! Jrme Pradon. When I heard he'd be playing Judas in the video version, my reaction was, "of course!" If you'd asked me who should play Judas, I probably wouldn't have come up with his name, but when I heard it, it just made sense. And he's really wonderful in the part! Yvonne Elliman. She's Mary Magdalene in the movie, and her version of I Don't Know How to Love Him has always been one of my favourites. Though she doesn't play Mary quite as strong as I think she could be, she still does a wonderful job. For more about Yvonne, take a trip to Yvonne Elliman Superstar
