Broadway Revival CastBroadway Revival Cast Recording. This recording is all about one thing - Brian Stokes Mitchell. He is absolutely spectacular, and I don't think I'll ever tire of listening to his "Impossible Dream" or "Dulcinea". I don't enjoy Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio as much as Aldonza, she lacks the powerful belt voice that I think Aldonza should have, although she sounds better on "Aldonza" than on a song like "It's All the Same". Although, I'm sure seeing her on stage would be better than just listening to the CD. The rest of the cast is also very strong, but nothing that really stands out for me. The orchestrations are good, not too cluttered, and with a bit of a Spanish flavour. As the first recording of this show that I've bought, I do enjoy it quite a bit, but it'll be interesting to see how it stacks up when I get my hands on some more!
