Based on Don Quixote de la Mancha by Miguel Cervantes

Author Miguel de Cervantes and his assistant are thrown into prison by the Spanish Inquisition. The other prisoners steal Cervantes's possessions, but he convinces them to allow him to win back a package of papers. Pleading his case, Cervantes gives a dramatic defense by reenacting the story of Don Quixote of La Mancha. Moved by the story, the prisoners return Quixote's manuscript just before he is called before the Inquisition. Take a look at the full synopsis.

Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra is considered one of Spain's greatest writers, largely on the strength of this novel. Don Quixote was written to mock the popular novels of chivalry which glorified the ideals of courtesy, constancy, bravery and loyalty. But it has come to mean much more than that - you can read a few more of my thoughts on the novel. Or, you can find out more about the history of the musical.

The only recording I own of this show so far in the new Broadway revival recording, but I hope to get some more shortly! Take a look at my review of the CD, or listen to a clip from one of my favourite songs.

When I tell people I flew to Australia to see a production of Man of La Mancha, they tend to think I'm crazy. But when one Anthony Warlow is starring in a show, what else are you to do?? I saw the show twice there, and had planned to see the New York revival, but it didn't quite work out that way. Anyway, read more of my thoughts on my experiences with the show.

All of the performers that I've enjoyed in this show are from recent productions - again, nothing against the original cast, just that I'm not familiar with them! Take a look at my thoughts on some of my favourite performers who have been in the show!

Once you're done looking around here, check out some of the other Man of La Mancha websites that are out there!
