![]() | The Original Studio Recording. This is a really short CD, since it is a recording of the original show, written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice for a children's concert. It is very interesting to hear some of the ideas that were originally in play, since many of them were changed later on. |
![]() | The 1982 Broadway cast. I bought this one AFTER I had the two newer recordings, and I probably don't enjoy it as much because I'm comparing it to them. It is an interesting stage of development for the show, and there are some things I do like. Laurie Beechman is very good as the Narrator. The song "Poor, poor Joseph" is interesting because the "theme" of it is different than in later recordings. Overall though, I don't like the orchestrations anywhere near as much as the reworked versions. |
![]() | The Revised London recording. I like this one much better! The orchestrations are much stronger, which is, of course, the result of the re-working of the show. The addition of the Megamix is great too. I like the cast here very much, especially Jason Donovan as Joseph. |
![]() | The Original Canadian cast. This is my favourite! It is also the first time I ever owned a recording which features a cast I actually saw! :-) Anyway, the whole cast on here is great...standouts are Donny Osmond as Joseph and Johnny Seaton as the Pharaoh. The orchestrations are similar to the London cast, and I like the Megamix on this one even more, although I don't know why! :-) |
