Jesus Christ Superstar follows the events of the week leading up to the crucifixion of Christ, as seen from the viewpoint of his disciple, and betrayer, Judas. Jesus Christ Superstar is a monument in musical history. It practically defines the era of '70s rock opera, with an album that reached the public before a show ever did, and captured the spirit of that generation. The 1973 film is a perfect example of the mixture of the old and new that is what makes this show so important. Read a bit more of my thoughts about the movie, or take a look at the history of the musical.

I own quite a few recordings of this show, but there are still many more that are available - take a look at my reviews of the CDs, or listen to a clip from one of my favourite songs.
There is also a video/DVD of the recent revival, read more about that recording.
My mother wasn't that keen on the idea of seeing this show on stage - she thought it was a little scandalous to have a musical about Jesus. But, she ended up loving it even more than I did! I had hoped to see the Broadway revival as well, but it closed before I got a chance to get to New York. Read more of my thoughts on the performance I did see.
I've only seen this show once, but it feels like more than that because of all the great recordings - here are a few of my favourite performers that have been in this show.

Are you a big fan of the show? How about using one of these great Jesus Christ Superstar icons? Or, once you're done looking around here, check out some of the other Jesus Christ Superstar websites that are out there!
