This movie was released in 1971, was directed by Norman Jewison, and starred Topol as Tevye. It won three Oscars and was nominated for five more. It is one of my all-time favourite movie musicals. They stayed very true to the original stage production, and the setting only helps to enrich the story. Topol's performance is wonderful, and helps to capture the poignancy and depth of emotion that makes this such a wonderful show to begin with.
