Original Cast Original Paris Cast. This was a show that took a while to grow on me. Some of the songs were definitely catchy, but nothing really reached out and grabbed me right away. There are two versions of this CD, so watch which one you get - one is is a highlights recording, with 14 songs from the show, including the final version of "L'envie d'aimer". The other is a 2-disc set with 27 tracks. The cast is very good, and the orchestrations are nice. I can certainly see why some people would like it a lot, but I can't say it's one of my favourites.

Live Recording Complete Live Recording. I'm almost always more fond of the complete versions of shows, and this is no exception. There are some really nice bits of music that were left off the highlights recording. A lot of the cast from the first album is repeated here, and they sound just as good here. The quality of the recording is very good. If you're going to buy a recording of the show, I would recommend this one first!

Italian Cast Original Italian Cast. Once the French recordings had grown on me, it was time to get some other casts, and the Italian cast was a good one to go to. It's a highlights recording, so naturally a lot of stuff from the complete recording is missing. Still, what's here is quite good! The translations generally flow pretty well, though I found "Non avevo mai prega" (Tu n'avais jamais), in particular, a little stilted. The orchestrations are generally similar, but with some interesting variations, like something that sounds like a chain gang in "Lasse mon peuple s'en aller", and a sort of tropical rhythm going on in "Il est celui que je voulais". The cast is generally good as well. If you're a fan of the show, I'd say pick this up!
