Based on the 1988 film

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels centers on two con men living on the French Riviera. The first is the suave and sophisticated Lawrence Jameson; the other, a small-time crook named Freddy Benson. After meeting on a train, they unsuccessfully attempt to work together only to find that this small French town isn't big enough for the two of them. They agree on a settlement: the first one to extract $50,000 from a young female target, heiress Christine Colgate, wins and the other must leave town. Read the complete synopsis.

"Nice guys finish last. Meet the winners." That was the tagline for the 1988 film Dirty Rotten Scoundrels starring Steve Martin and Michael Caine, the story of two con men and their bet to rule the French Riviera. Although there is nothing musical about the original film, it translates nicely onto the musical stage. Read a bit more about the film or find out more about how it became a musical.

The only recording available so far is the original Broadway cast recordings. Take a look at my review of the CD, or listen to a clip from one of my favourite songs.

This was high on my list of shows to see on my pre-Tony trip in 2005, and we managed to end up in the front row, and had an absolute blast! Read more of my thoughts on that particular performance.

The major reason I wanted to see this show was the cast, and they were all as fabulous as I'd been hoping! Take a look at my thoughts on some of my favourites.
