Where the story of Cinderella originated is unknown but the earliest datable version of the Cinderella story occurs in a Chinese book written about 850-860 AD. The earliest European version of tale was published in Italy in 1634. Read a bit more about the origins of the story, or read more about the development of the musical, and the form it was originally written for - the TV movie versions.

This show was first written as a TV movie, so the only recordings of it are the soundtracks of the movie versions. You can read my reviews of the CDs, or listen to a clip from one of my favourite songs.

I was really happy when the tour of this show came through Toronto, with Eartha Kitt and Deborah Gibson. It was great to see both women on stage! Read more of my thoughts about that experience.

There have been some wonderful performers involved with this show, both in the TV versions and on stage. Read a bit more about some of my favourites.
