Cabaret opened in New York at the Broadhurst Theatre on November 20, 1966, and moved to the Imperial and then the Broadway Theatre before closing on September 6, 1969. This production won 8 Tony Award, including Best Musical, Best Featured Actor (Joel Gray), and Best Featured Actress (Winner: Peg Murray). The show opened in London in 1968, starring Judi Dench.
There was a London revival in 1986, and the first Broadway revival of the show took place from October 22, 1987 to June 4, 1988, at the Imperial and Minskoff Theatres.
The most recent revival played at the Donmar Warehouse in London before opening in New York at the Kit Kat Club on March 19 1998. The show moved to Studio 54 on November 3, 1998, after a building fell on the Kit Kat Club. :-) This production won 4 1998 Tony Awards, for Best Musical Revival, Best Actor in a Musical (Alan Cumming), Best Actress in a Musical (Natasha Richardson), and Best Featured Actor in a Musical (Ron Rifkin). This production closed on January 4, 2004.
