1998 Broadway Revival. This recording is really responsible for my love of this show. I had seen the cast perform on various TV shows and so on, but I wasn't really overly familiar with the show, or the music. So I bought the recording. Alan Cumming is wonderful - he just is the Emcee for me. I'm not all that fond of Natasha Richardson's voice. I've heard she was wonderful on stage, and while I don't doubt it, that acting doesn't really come across on CD. But the rest of the cast is good, very suited to the show. Also, the musical arrangements are wonderful...the Entr'acte is one of my favourite things to listen to. I highly recommend this recording!
