Willy Russell was born in Whiston, near Liverpool, England, in 1947. He has written a string of popular, award-winning plays, including Educating Rita which was successfully made into an Oscar-nominated movie starring Michael Caine and Julie Walters. However, he had never written any music before trying his hand at Blood Brothers. Read more about the history of the musical.

I own three different recordings of this show, and I'm hoping to get some foreign language recordings soon! Take a look at my reviews of the CDs, or listen to a clip from one of my favourite songs.
I almost went to see the show in 1996 in Toronto, with David Cassidy and Michael Burgess, but we ran out of time on our trip, so I had to pass. But I did finally get a chance to see it, 6 years later, in London, where it all started! Read more of my thoughts on that particular performance.
Having only seen the show once, I don't have a huge list of favourite performers, but you can take a look at my thoughts on some of the actors who have been in the show!
