Bat Boy tells the tale of a half boy/half bat creature found in a cave near Hope Falls, West Virginia. After attacking a local girl, he is captured and brought into the care and custody of the local veterinarian and his family, who teach him civilized ways and try and integrate him into polite society. The story of the bat child found in the cave first appeared in the World Weekly News, and quickly caught the imagination of a number of readers - not to mention Laurence O'Keefe. :-) Read a bit more about the 'real' bat child, and then see how it became a musical.

There's only one recording of this so far, but it's a really wonderful one! Read my thoughts about the CD to find out more, or listen to a clip from one of my favourite songs.

I went to see the off-Broadway production of this show in New York in 2001, and it definitely stands out as one of the most original shows I've ever seen! I saw the Toronto production as well, and would definitely go again sometime. Read a bit more about the performances I've seen.

The off-Broadway cast of this show was absolutely wonderful. Take a look at my thoughts on some of the wonderful performers that have been in this show.

Once you're done looking around here, check out some of the other Bat Boy websites that are out there.
