11-year-old orphan Annie longs for her parents to rescue her from the Municiple Orphanage and its mean-spirited matron, Agatha Hannigan. When billionaire Oliver Warbucks takes Annie into his home, the two develop a quick bond, and he decides to adopt her. But Annie is still hoping for her real parents to return, so Warbucks organizes a nation-wide search for them. Little Orphan Annie first appeared in 1924, and has rarely left the public eye since. The creation of cartoonist Harold Gray, her adventures started as a comic strip, which is still in print today, before being adapted for the Broadway stage. A few years later, the Broadway show was made into a movie version, and more recently into a new made-for-TV movie.
