![]() | Original Cast Recording. The main recommendation this recording has going for it is the cast. Pretty much every current Dutch theatre star appears in this show, and their fantastic voices sound great here. The music took a little longer to grow on me, but there are definitely some songs that I really enjoy. I got the "special edition box" , which included not only the cast recording, but a "Making of" DVD, and a CD of the songs being sung by pop stars. All in all, it was enough to make me interested in seeing the show, which is the best thing that a cast recording can do! |
![]() | Original Berlin Cast Recording. Having said how much I enjoy the Dutch recording, I now have to admit that I like the German recording even better! The orchestrations are wonderful, in many places improved from the original. I also love the cast - well, with Pia Douwes and Uwe Krger, how could you not? And Patrick Stanke continues to live up to the good opinion I formed of him from the Titanic recording. There's also a new song - "Milady ist zurck" - which better introduces that character - plus gives Pia Douwes a new song to sing (always a good thing!). On the flip side, they've cut a few things as well. I still like both recordings, but if you're just going to get one, I'd have to say go with this one. |
